The EU accession on the 1st of January 2007 is an important, historical moment for Romania. The “Union of 27” with a population close to half a billion citizens represents already a key global actor aiming to ensure prosperity, stability and peace in the world.

What brings Romania to the European Union? A market of more than 22 million new European citizens, a rich culture with consecrated international and European values, a dynamic economy, a native entrepreneurial spirit, natural parks unique in Europe and in the world. 

As a Member State, Romania is determined to make best use of the opportunities created by her new status and contribute to the further development of the European project and to do the further strengthening of the institutions of the European Union as well as of the Union’s role at global level.

The aim of this site is to provide up-to-date information on Romania’s undertakings as Member State and on the activities organised by the Permanent Representation to the EU.
