Launch of the accreditation procedures for foreign media representatives and foreign observers for the election of Romanian members of the European Parliament

According to Law No. 33/2007 for the organization of the European Parliament elections, republished and with subsequent amendments and supplements, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a series of administrative–organizational tasks in the context of the preparation and organization of the European parliament elections abroad, as well as duties related to informing the voters who will cast their ballots in polling stations abroad.

In accordance with Article 73 of Law No. 33/2007 for the organization for the European Parliament elections, the accreditation of foreign observers and foreign media representatives shall be carried out by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) upon proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the accreditation procedure for foreign media representatives and the accreditation procedure for foreign observers at the elections of 26 May 2019 for the Romanian members to the European Parliament are available on the MFA website, under the special section dedicated to the European Parliament elections – link: Note that this section will be constantly updated, as new information will become available.

Considering that, according to the legislation, the deadline by which the AEP receives accreditation proposals from MFA is no later than 15 days prior to the election day, in order to be processed, the accreditation requests, accompanied by complete documentation for obtaining the accreditation, shall be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the latest by 9 May 2019, 4:30 P.M., Romanian time.
